Knitbud (and ubernurse!) Sarah...aka Evil Toad, had a brilliant idea recently. There are two nurses and two midwives (inc. me) with live in senior parents. She decided we should form a club and have dinner parties each month or so to get the seniors out and meeting other folks.....or at least let us feel like we're facilitating that sort of thing. Thus was born the S.P.A.H. group (Senior Parents At Home...or Senile Parents At Home...whichever is most appropro!)

Me and Grandma Clara.

Marlena, her mom Pam, Zelda's mom Dee, Zelda

The Scots (Sarah and her Dad...I forgot his name..how embarrassing...but they brought a six-pack of wine!)

We met last Thursday night at Marlena's home. She and her mom, Pam, fixed a wonderful roast Turkey with mashed potatoes, stuffing, and gravy! Zelda's mom made a green-bean casserole and rolls. I brought a green salad with fresh spinach, dried cranberries, toasted almonds and feta, and the Scots brought wine and a yummy fruit salad with cookies and whipped cream for dessert.

We ALL had a grand time, and despite Grandma Clara's shyness, she is looking forward to helping me host the next dinner in March!

In Knitting news...i've about 3 inches of ribbing left on the superwash bamboo long and lacy cardi. Maybe it'll be finished before catching the plane tonight....

Plane tonight? Yes....The long awaited Mexican Vacay has arrived! Whoohoo! Just me and the girl, heading down to Zihuatenejo for the next ten days....lots of sun, lots of sand, lots of relaxation! The man has vowed to keep close tabs on the grannymeister and I trust him to do a great job! I have yet to figure out what knitting to take for the plane and the beach......but I have a few hours yet to narrow it down. I'm sure I'll have lots of pics and fun things to post when I return....until then....

KNIT ON!

Lovely idea to host dinners with the slightly-befuddled folks. Great photos, too.

And have a great time in Mexico! I have good memories of my trip to Z-whatever, a couple of decades ago. Including my friend's disbelief that the locals brought live chickens on the bus from town along with their packages. ;)
