Garden, Knitting & Remodel

I have no clever title. What you read is what you get. Finally. The sun was out. The sky was blue. I almost didn't recognize what it was. My garden went freaking nuts. The Delphinium bloomed. The weeds and grass must've grown a foot in the past 24 hours. But it's not bad. Sort of a cross between cottage and shabby chic. If the weather holds, the deck gets painted this weekend.

I went back to work Sunday night. Had 3 yummy babies. All nice families. All nice births. Tuesday was our day-long every 2 year ALL STAFF MEETING. Almost 1500 employees in my company. Imagine my joy. Blessedly, I had the perfect project started and was able to almost finish the back. Below is an earlier pic:

It will be the Triangle Cable T from S.Charles Collezione Spring/Summer 2003 Brochure. The yarn is Berocco Denim Silk purchased from Elann.com in August 05. (Gotta love Elann's on-line shopping history to really put your stash marinade time in perspective!) The color is Cayenne and is pretty true in the pic. The cables start out 10 stitches wide and decrease to 1 stitch over several rows. Really neat effect I think and it will have the same treatment at the V-neckline and center outer short sleeve.

That's all the knitting. Stop now if you don't want remodel updates.

The cabinets are IN!!!!! I LOVE THEM!!!!

Here's another view. You may admire my farmhouse style apron front sink. And wait'll you see the new faucet. Swoon. I will, however, be replacing the stark white outlet covers and switchplates for brushed stainless to coordinate with the appliances. I'm all about the matchy-matchy that way.

Close-up of the custom island. Guess what. It's on rolling casters. So I can reposition it at will for various and sundry reasons. And will have about 10" overhang on the other side just the perfect height for short barstools. The fact that it rolls is amazingly convenient. I love this feature.

Yesterday, the granite folks measured and templated. They will be here to install next week. Gulp. Tomorrow morning, the flooring guy comes to pre-install prep. I cannot believe it. So far, once things got started, they've gone remarkably smoothly. And so far, I'm thrilled with the way it's coming together.

Knit On!

Yay, Lisa, all is well in AK. I'd kill for a granite island on casters. Enjoy all the newness.

Oh. My. Gosh. Your cabinets are gorgeous. The sink. Divine. Matchy matchy is important and anyone who tells you different is in denial. :)

Kitchen envy here. Beautiful, all those cabinets and storage! Plus, an island, movable no less.

Wow it looks SO awesome. I love the terra cotta color too. You must be so thrilled to have a complete overhaul!
I've been doing TONS of projects around the house myself, lots of tiny "why didn't I do that years ago?" type of things. Wish I could do a complete teardown and start over, but the only things available to my budget are paint. concrete patch. caulk. wood filler. more paint.
It does make things look fresh at least!
