Tea Time

Grace "talked" me into joining the Knit 1, Tea 2 swap...whoohoo! My FIRST Swap! I'm very excited! Here's the website to join. (If ANYONE has any ideas why I can't make links from text on my Mac...please let me know...i've spent a couple hours trying to get it to work but it just doesn't as of earlier this summer! crud.) Signups are open until August 20th if you are interested!

So here's my questionnaire oh swappin buddy wherever you are!

Do you like loose tea or bags, or both – something you want to try?
I like both. Loose tea for when there's more time, bag tea for quick n' easy.

What is your favorite kind of tea (Brand, flavor, variety, etc)?
My default Tea is plain old Bigelow Constant Comment...but my very favorite is MarketSpice Tea from Seattle. That being said, I also enjoy the Rooibus (redbush) Ts coming from Africa. I'm just not a big fan of green tea for drinking...although I love the fragrance of it.

Favorite color in regards to tea or one you would like to try? (black, green, red, and white) Red and or White (keeping in mind that this is how this swap is set up).
Reds & Blacks, I've never tried any of the "white" tea (those poor lil baby tea leaves) but since I prefer the stronger flavors...it would probably not be my favorite.

Would you say you were a tea pot kind of person or just a hot water heater kind?
Teapot.

What tea accessories would you like but have never purchases for yourself?
Honey spoons. I've seen them but never purchased...always thought to myself..what a great idea! I also like fun tea balls and tea eggs.

How do you prefer to be pampered? (examples: mani/pedi, bubble bath, yummy treat, etc).
Pedicure, bubbly bath, tea and chocolates :) good books, scented candles or incense....all that good stuff!

If you were a kind of yarn what would you be and why?
Peruvian wool, soft, versatile, adaptable and basic..that's me :)

If you had to knit/crochet baby booties, a fun fur scarf, or a fair isle sweater, which would you choose and why?
Baby booties...because they always come in handy...i have a strong dislike for fun fur...and fair isle continues to elude my skill set.

What other event would make you skip a tea party? (A garden party? A book club meeting? A yoga class? Opening night for a new action thriller? etc?)
Being ill or having to go catch a baby. If I make a date for a girlfriend party...i try real hard not to miss it!

What treat would you consider essential at your tea party? (Sweet? Salty? Scones? Those petite pastry trays with a couple of all sorts of things? Little crust less sandwiches?)
Little tea sandwiches with salmon/cream cheese spread on rye with capers and fresh dill cut in sweet little shapes, chicken salad-the kind with grapes, and scones and lots of cookies/biscuits.

When buying yarn for a project how do you choose - do you buy the one called for or do you substitute?
Substitute almost always! (unless I come across a screaming good buy on the specified yarn!)

What do you carry your knitting/crocheting in when on the go?
In a gallon size zip lock baggie inside my backpack usually...or my knitting bag which always ends up turning into my "purse" for a couple of weeks. I'm a one bag at a time type of gal, but oh that bag has everything in it...i'm a "Let's Make A Deal" wannabe"

Favorite movie to watch while knitting/crocheting?
hmmm...almost anything really....Breakfast at Tiffany's, Dr. Zhivago, Alien vs. Predator, Titanic, anything Sci-Fi...no horror please.

Are you a traditional tea cup kind of person or a mug type of person?
Mug for drinking, traditional pretty cups for looking wistfully and wishing I wasn't such a clutz.

Do you care if they match?
naaaah.

Favorite childhood birthday party?
age 8...my grandma clara threw me a "pink" party with a pink (strawberry) cake with pink frosting and pink punch and pink and white decorations and almost my whole class came over!

Favorite type of scone and jam?
Any scone except chocolate chip (bleah!) and l love blackberry jam.

If you use candles, what is your favorite scent?
patchouli, clove, sandalwood, cedar, anything spicy.

If you could choose 3 people to have 'tea' with, who would they be and why? (famous or not, living or dead).
1) Helen Varney Burst (mother of modern nurse-midwifery), 2) Ina May Gaskin-(showed the US through her statistics that midwife attended birth IS Safe!), 3) Cher-just cuz I really admire her talent and accomplishments.

You've been invited to a tea party, what 'props' will you wear (formal or casual)?
Depends on the weather but probably a long flowing skirt, sandals and a lightweight hand knit shawl.

Any allergies/preferences you have or are willing to admit to?
No allergies, but I prefer strong tea with a little body to it, same with yarn.

Anything we missed that you want your pal to know?
This is my VERY FIRST swap of any kind whoohoo! I'm jazzed!

That's it for today folks, there's a baby sweater almost off the needles and I'll try to post it as a FO tomorrow! Have a great knitterly day and stay cool...it's supposed to be in the 70s here today! HOT HOT HOT!
