Busy Knitter

In an effort to destash...I found another hat pattern in Knitting Pattern Central's freebies..this one is called WideBand Cable Hat and is pretty cute on, but I will probably frog it and reknit in a smaller gauge...just not liking how the fabric feels. Made from Misty Alpaca Baby Alpaca Chunky in a periwinkle/cream.
And because there was some of the chunky baby alpaca leftover...well, you can always use cabled mittens right? My own bastardized cable mitten pattern.

The Peapod just wasn't doing it for me, so I ripped it out and did something a little different. This old fashioned looking sweater is made with Lion Brand Wool-Ease in a heathered pink and heathered plum held double and knitted on size 10s...the pattern is from 100 one skein projects..can't remember the exact title of the book...but a very easy peasy...totally seamless (because i did 3 needle bindoff on the shoulders) little cardigan with real leather buttons. The hat is the basic family churro pattern minus the earflaps! I am so excited by how cute it turned out. I hope the recipient likes it too! I realized after wrapping it that I forgot to crochet cute little button loops and had to unwrap...so..it is of course still waiting for button loops..probably tonight. S'OK though cuz the wee recipient is only a week old and this will probably not even fit her until she's closer to 9 mos...unless of course she turns into ginormous baby over the summer....
These are the fingerless mitts (2nd pair) made by request for DD. My own version of a wandering cable pattern. Completed with 1 (one) skein Patons SWS, 70% wool, 30% soy. There have been numerous requests from DDs friends and even one of her high school teachers...a big fat NO...ok...Maybe her teacher.......
Here is the 2nd scarf for Red Scarf Project. Made with 3 skeins Sensations Licorice (JoAnne's brand), 100% wool, softened up a lot with Eucalon, but still kind of scratchy.

So, I've knit up 12 balls in less than 14 days, but there was finishing work to do...and work...and family...and all the other crap that cuts into my knitting time...maybe 100 balls/100 days is overly ambitious, grandiose even...but I'm early enough into it that ...well, what the hey...it may work out! But I'm burned out on the fast and dirty projects so guess I'll head back over into the sweater zone this weekend...but nothing on the needles is turning my crank right now...except Kiri..she's beckoning...only 5 rows to rip and then a few rows to redo...maybe this weekend...totally not feeling any level of responsibility or commitment here....Have a great week and I'll check in again soon!

100 balls in 100 days will jack up your hands-unless they are super bulky 30 yard balls. That would be a shame to jack up the hands, so just go for the quantity, not the time!

I like EVERYTHING, and maybe you will have knitting lessons for DD's friends?

those are some really great projects. My dd is looking at the fingerless mitts. She is also laughing about the chocolate covered raisin. :-)

B is probably right; don't blow out your hands trying to do too much knitting. I gave mine a break this evening - I stirred up 2 batches of pasta sauce. Entirely different uses of the hands, chopping and slicing and stirring. Yum, yum!

Thanks for the advice bets/cbm...i am going for quantity not speed...i just have to have some sort of deadline to shoot for otherwise i never get started. btw knitting is really great therapy for my hands which get jacked up a lot....occupational hazard.....think about how strong women are in birth...ummm...you get the picture...anyways...as long as i change needle sizes/projects frequently and don't have hours of stockinette repetition...its all good. thanks for the project kudos. Suzann dds are the best aren't they!

Wowza, I am dizzy from all your finished projects!
I would love to get my hands on some of that Patons's SWS but the brandy new Michael's built near me has yet to open. Sigh..

i haven't had a problem with my hands but I notice at night after I am done knitting for the day my left shoulder hurts a bit. I keep knitting though, because when I measure sanity vs pain, sanity wins!!! BUT seriously its very good advice to be cautious of our hands or we won't knit at all. I love that joanne's yarn, I will have to go look for it!

Wow! Lots of great stuff - love DD's mitts. But where were you when I needed the backbone to say "No" to my DD's friend (and Boss!)requests? My Warrick, has been a hit around here. Friend one has requested the SWS, how did you find it to work with?
