Friday Miscellany

The man and I drove down the street to Arctic Valley to watch the sunset the other night. The mountain you see across the inlet (Knik Arm of Cook Inlet) is Mount Susitna (also known as Sleeping Lady).
You can feel fall in the air. My garden is winding down....all the lilies have been cut back, however, this is an awesome year for the phlox, astilbe and my first year with baby's breath coming back....in abundance...it looks like a pink fairyland out there.....here are some closeups....

I've also finished the shopping part for the Knit1Tea2 swap....my secret swap buddy is a self described "foodie" so there's lots and lots of snacky things in there in addition to the various teas. There's also a very Alaskan mug...so cute !...and some yarny goodness with matching stitch markers (too fun) All that's left is to do the handknit gift part and I'm having trouble deciding on what that will be...something quick n but high quality...knitting for other knitters makes me a little nervous.......

(i realized OH CRAP...I shouldn't post pics until after my surprise person receives it....so I hope no one saw! It's my first swap ever...and i'm not quite yet up to speed on proper "swap etiquette"...hanging my head in apology....now...you are getting sleepy...sleepy...you saw nothing at all...nothing...nothing...at all.......)

I'm almost finished with the Voyager stole, should have it blocked by Sunday and will show it off then....Coachella from Knitty is next in the lineup....

Thank you all for the wonderful supportive comments on my last post.....The Memorial FundRacer will be held on Sept. 15th. A few folks have asked how they can help out with this cause and I'll be posting a link for the contact person for any contributions this weekend. The knitting community is so big-hearted. I am really glad it's Friday folks, this has been a very very long week. Knit on!

Beautiful garden - I'm afraid mine is more than a little neglected this year... ah well, it comes up every year doesn't it? I'm still distracted by the caramel pecan cream puffs... Isn't Sue wonderful? I thought that anyway but holy jumpins', I am so impressed - still! I did visit the Magknits sock, after reading your Elann post, and I have it bookmarked :). Take care
